Elizabeth Taylor gives voice to the rage still felt over the loss of the Great Library because of Roman/Republican bungling. More ravishingly beautiful in each scene, here she uses her "weaponized femininity" to tighten her hold on Caesar, played by Rex Harrison. Fiery dialog burns up the luxurious sets and costuming.
